AEG Live is thrilled to announce TRAMPLED BY TURTLES with THE DEVIL MAKES THREE, DEER TICK live at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Saturday, August 16, 2014.
Coming off their 2013 Live at First Avenue CD/DVD release which continues to air on Palladia, 2014 will include the band’s first headlining show at Red Rocks and Stubb’s along with performances at Shaky Knees Festival, Stagecoach, and Mountain Jam. The last two years have seen the Minnesota based Trampled by Turtles perform on Conan, The Prairie Home Companion, The Late Show with David Letterman, and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson along with high profile slots at Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits Festival, Outside Lands, Lollapalooza, Sasquatch, and Newport Folk Fest. Their latest tour dates are below. Trampled by Turtles has also been busy at Minnesota’s historic Pachyderm Studio working toward a 2014 release with producer Alan Sparhawk of Low and engineer BJ Burton (Volcano Choir, Lizzo, and Polica). Formed in Duluth, Minn., in 2003, Trampled by Turtles is Dave Simonett (guitar, vocals), Tim Saxhaug (bass, vocals), Dave Carroll (banjo, vocals), Erik Berry (mandolin) and Ryan Young (fiddle, vocals). Within the contained music scene of Duluth, the members of the band did their own time in punk and rock bands, brandishing their electricity proudly before switching to acoustic instruments. While they never set out to be a “bluegrass” band, Trampled by Turtles employs many of the same traditional techniques of the genre, but their differences in influences, attitude and attack make for their unique sound.
