AEG Live is thrilled to announce Lyle Lovett and k.d. lang (co-headline) performing at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Friday July 13, 2007.
Lyle Lovett is one of the most revered musicians of his time. Over the course of his career, he has won four Grammy Awards, including Best Country Album (1996 for “The Road to Ensenada), Best Country Duo/Group with Vocal (1994 for “Blues for Dixie” with Asleep at the Wheel”), Best Pop Vocal Collaboration (1994 for “Funny How Time Slips Away” with Al Green), and Best Country Male Vocal (1989 for “Lyle Lovett and His Large Band”).
The Texas-born singer/songwriter’s appeal has lasted nearly two decades, thanks to critically acclaimed albums such as the Gold-certified albums “Lyle Lovett” (1986), “Pontiac” (1987), “And His Large Band” (1989), and “Joshua Judges Ruth (1992), “I Love Everybody” (1994) and “The Road To Ensenada” (1996).
k. d. lang was born November 2, 1961 in Edmonton, Alberta. Singing at country and western venues in Canada, she made several recordings that received good reviews and earned a 1985 Canadian Juno Award for Most Promising Female Vocalist. Lang has won eight Juno Awards.
Her career received a huge boost when Roy Orbison chose her to record a duet of his standard, "Crying". Instead of being overwhelmed by the power of Orbison's three-octave voice, the two blended their vocal ranges into a collaboration that won them the Grammy Award for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals.
k.d. lang won the Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance for her 1989 album, Absolute Torch and Twang.
