On Resurrection Sunday (April 21), 2019, the Colorado Council of Churches will host its 72nd Annual Easter Sunrise Service at Red Rocks Amphitheatre! This a truly unique worship experience that draws people from across Colorado, the Rocky Mountain region and rest of the nation. Last year, an estimated 11,000 people attended the service.  For many attendees who don’t regularly attend church, this is a special opportunity to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Given the spectacular venue and the wonderful service, it’s no wonder that so many people have this event on their “Bucket List.”

Rev. Quirino Cornejo will bring the message. Rev. Quirino Cornejo was born on the 4th of June of 1963, in the city of Leon Guanajuato, Mexico. In 1975, Rev. Cornejo entered the minor Seminary in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, where, in 1980, he completed his baccalaureate degree in Social Administrative Sciences from the University of San Luis Potosi. Rev. Cornejo also has a Master’s degree in Philosophy from the Palafox Pontifical Seminary in Puebla, Mexico (1984), and a Master’s degree in Theology from the Redemporist International School of Theology (1988).

In 1989, Rev. Cornejo migrated to the United States, and he was ordained as a Roman Catholic priest for the Diocese of San Angelo, Texas, on May 25, 1991. In 2012, Rev. Cornejo moved to Brighton, Colorado and joined the Episcopal Church. In 2016, Rev. Cornejo became an episcopal priest for the Diocese of Colorado.

Rev. Cornejo develops Latino Ministries for the Episcopal Diocese of Colorado and the Rocky Mountain Synod of Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.  He is the Pastor of the Latino Congregation of Iglesia Luterana Cristo Rey. Rev. Cornejo is married to Margarita, and they have a daughter named Sophia.

Musical guests include Heatherlyn Music, Dr. J. Arturo Gonzalez and the Jubilate! Sacred Singers.
