While Red Rocks is certainly the greatest outdoor concert venue, we are always looking for ways to make “The Best” better. Three years ago we opened a new drive-up box office to make picking up Will Call and purchasing tickets faster and easier; in 2006 we remodeled the sound mix area, lowering it to allow for improved sightlines for those fans who sit directly behind it; this year we’re proud to debut a new and improved North Concession Stand. The newly renovated stand is fully accessible to our wheelchair and mobility-impaired guests, doubling our ADA concession options, and features a wheelchair accessible family restroom, new drinking fountain and an expanded selection of natural and locally produced food and beverage. We also think you will appreciate the aesthetics of the remodeled area, as the design concept complements the original architecture and materials of the Burnham Hoyt Visitor Center at the top of the amphitheatre.
Also new this year, the old and irregular stone steps that lead from the Upper North Lot to the Top Circle Lot have been replaced with safer and more attractive stairs, and a new electrical installation for the stage will eliminate the ambient hum that has interfered with some of the quieter concerts in the past. Some of you will notice the ongoing bench replacement project within the seating area at the venue. Many of the original redwood benches have become quite worn and Theatres and Arenas is busy replacing them with a new plantation-grown, sustainable wood from South America called ipe. The new wood is long-lasting, tight-grained and very attractive - we hope you enjoy all of the latest improvements at Red Rocks Amphitheatre!
