One breath and one step at a time, on October 14th, 2012 the
American Lung Association in Colorado (ALAC) and an anticipated 2500 Coloradans
will run/walk through Red Rocks Park to take steps in our fight to prevent lung
disease and promote lung health. While the park has been visited by many, the
American Lung Association in Colorado’s Kaiser Permanente Run the ‘Rocks 5K
presented by DaVita offers a course that few have had the opportunity to
experience as it is the only event of its kind at Red Rocks Park.
Participants as teams or individuals will walk or run
through the scenic mountain park on October 14th and finish by climbing the
famous amphitheater stairs. During the race, runners will be encouraged by six
unique local bands. At the culmination
of the run/walk, participants will enjoy a wide variety of exhibitors and entertainment
on the plaza. The 5K run/walk will
support the critical programs of the American Lung Association in Colorado. This
year’s event anticipates it will raise $200,000 to support programs and
services in Colorado.
Race begins in the Upper North Parking Lot
COST: Registration is
$25 early-bird (through July 20th), $35 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under. All participants are encouraged to set a
fundraising minimum of $50 in order to earn a signature Kaiser Permanente Run
the ‘Rocks 5K performance shirt.
As the oldest voluntary health organization in the
United States, the American Lung Association in Colorado works day in and day
out to prevent lung disease and promote lung health. Tobacco use kills more people than alcohol,
drugs, homicide, suicide, car accidents, fires, and AIDS combined. The air we breathe, indoors and out, has a
profound impact on our lung health without many of us even knowing it. There
are more than 100,000 children in Colorado living with asthma and more than one
in four Colorado families are affected by the disease. Breathing is something many don’t think about
often but for more than 30 million Americans, every breath is a struggle due to
lung disease. The American Lung
Association in Colorado offers a wide variety of programs to address all lung
health issues and improve the health of all Coloradans.
Run, walk or crawl.
All are welcome at the 6th annual Kaiser Permanente Run the ‘Rocks 5K
presented by DaVita. This unique 5K
run/walk is the ideal way to spend a Sunday with the family or cool down from
the Denver Marathon.
