The studio version of "Raise Hell" will be included on Brandi's forthcoming new album, Bear Creek, which is set for release in early June.
After debuting with her self-titled album on Columbia Records in 2005, the Washington state-bred Carlile was labeled an “Artist To Watch” by Rolling Stone magazine. Conan O’Brien took notice and booked her for an appearance on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, marking her national television debut. The critically-acclaimed album positioned Carlile for her breakout success.
Her sophomore album, 2007’s The Story, was produced by legendary multi-Grammy Award winner T Bone Burnett and saw her fan base quickly grow on the strength of the title track and the national press that followed. Appearances on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, CBS Saturday Early Show Second Cup Café and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno helped the album peak at No. 41 on the Billboard album sales chart. Among the growing legion of Carlile fans was Elton John. “Brandi has an amazing voice,” he said. “She’s a great songwriter and has a tremendous career ahead of her.”
Prior to the release of her third album, 2009’s Give Up The Ghost, Paste Magazine called her “the best voice in indie rock.” The album, produced by yet another producing legend, this time multi-Grammy Award winner Rick Rubin, helped solidify Carlile’s position as one of music’s most talented writers and live performers around.
Carlile’s songs have appeared in television shows such as Grey’s Anatomy, The Good Wife, American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, Private Practice, One Life To Live and Parenthood. She’s also had songs featured in national and international television advertising campaigns by General Motors (2008 U.S. Olympic ad), Super Bock (Portugal), Tracker (South Africa), Hilton Hotels and JC Penney for Ralph Lauren. Along the way, she’s toured with the likes of Ray LaMontagne, Chris Isaak, The Avett Brothers and Sheryl Crow. Crow raved about Carlile, “she has the most amazing voice I may have ever heard. Soulful. Country. Perfect in every way—and propelled by taste.” Carlile also recorded a duet with Elton John, performed on the legendary TV show Austin City Limits, performed at the Grand Ole Opry, and on the main stage at Austin City Limits, Lilith Fair and numerous other festivals.
To date, Carlile has sold over 800,000 albums worldwide and is approaching one million digital single sales sold. Summer 2012 will see the release of her fourth studio album, Bear Creek, which was recorded at Bear Creek Studios outside of her hometown of Seattle.
